The economic and solidarity project LABURO, coordinated by the Civil Association Sinodar in Argentina, Italy, and Côte d’Ivoire, moves into a new phase. This Monday, the 10th, marks the deadline for submitting the final designs that may be selected to join the international initiative that revalues workers’ organization and brings quality products to communities everywhere. Together with the San Cayetano Cooperative (Argentina), the graphic company Pibiesse (Italy), and the clothing brand Dawnlight (Côte d’Ivoire), SINODAR seeks to promote and highlight actions carried out around the world against organized crime.

This stage strengthens the cultural dimension, countering the false narratives that organized crime spreads about itself to gain legitimacy and attract new recruits, reducing social rejection and weakening institutional responses. In this regard, Rosario Anchorena, president of the San Cayetano Cooperative, stated: “We’ve internalized the idea of ‘more work, fewer narcos.’ Everything we have, we earned through work.”

In the coming days, the Selection Committee will announce the designs that reflect this principle and will be included in LABURO’s experiences, where clothing and other products will be marketed to strengthen the social and economic activities of associations, foundations, cooperatives, and social enterprises dedicated to promoting and contributing to the development and consolidation of public and private policies aimed at reversing the spread of organized crime.

“The name is no coincidence. Laburo comes from Lavoro, which means ‘work’ in Italian. Because we believe that the key to fighting organized crime lies not only in the courts or law enforcement, but in guaranteeing decent, meaningful work that gives people belonging and a future,” explained Lucas Manjon, president of SINODAR.

SINODAR also announced the launch event for this project, which will take place on Friday, December 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Multiespacio JXI, located at Gascón 1474, Buenos Aires. The event is open and free to the public and will welcome representatives from various sectors interested in supporting the cause. During the event, LABURO products featuring the winning designs will be available for purchase, and attendees will be able to learn more about the work of the participating organizations.

LABURO is a project that moves forward in a different, more inclusive and open way in the fight against organized crime. It invites all sectors of society to take part—supporting the cause in any form, or simply believing that other paths and resources are possible.
